What happens when the only words you can think to say to another person are “I love you?” The feeling of belonging to them, knowing that a piece of your soul will never return to you, is something wonderful and painful at the same time. Love is what makes people stronger, for with each passing minute is an incredible ache deep within the heart. As time goes by and love is dragged on, it becomes intensified, making you wonder why you’ve managed to hold on for so long, and yet, you continue. You continue to hold on because you want the piece of your soul that you’ve left behind to be as close to the two of you as possible simultaneously. It hurts to be so in love, but it hurts more to leave your soul behind. When the only words you can think to say to another person are “I love you,” then you should say them with as much conviction and emotion as you think them with. Those three words are what spread joy throughout the planet, in the heart of every young person, old person, and all of the people in between. Love is something like a miracle; the intensified bond between two people as a piece of the soul is left with the other. Love is like nothing else, leaving its believers in a warm state of need of the other’s hand for all eternity. Why not love? Why not trust your heart and soul to one person who could as easily cherish it forever as they could smash it into thousands of little pieces? After all, love was what makes the world so wonderful in the first place.

I was watching an anime earlier tonight by the name of 5 Centimeters Per Second. As I enjoyed the literary perspective they used to narrate a large part of the first episode, it made me think about the concept of love and what's beyond the physical aspect of it (i.e. hugging, kissing, etc.). I thought about what might go on in the mind during the very beginning of a blooming relationship between two people, and I came up with this. I really, really hope you enjoy it as much as I enjoyed writing it.
